The 4 Pillars of the Kratom Consumer Protection Act (KCPA)
The KCPA is landmark bipartisan legislation passed in over a dozen states to safeguard consumers, establish manufacturing standards, and eliminate low-grade or adulterated botanicals.
1. Purity & Zero Adulteration
Strict prohibition of non-kratom additives, dangerous synthetics, and harmful heavy metal contaminants. Only pure, unadulterated Mitragyna speciosa leaf is lawful.
2. Alkaloid Ceiling Caps
Mandates that 7-hydroxymitragynine does not exceed 2.0% (or in some states 1.0%) of the total alkaloid fraction to prevent unnatural concentrations.
3. Age Verification Safeguards
Prohibits the distribution or sale of kratom products to minors. Established minimum purchase age thresholds of 18+ or 21+ across regulated states.
4. Transparent Batch Labeling
Every unit must bear full alkaloid quantification, lot batch numbering, manufacturer details, and QR codes linking to third-party Certificate of Analysis (COA) documents.
